Advertise with Harmony Food Agent
People open Harmony when they are deciding what to buy: scanning a product in the aisle, comparing healthier alternatives, or planning a week of meals for their family. Harmony is free for everyone, and advertising is what keeps it free.
This page lists every ad placement and format in the app, what your creative needs, how results are measured and how you can pay. To plan a campaign, email partners@harmonyfoodagent.com.
How ads work on Harmony
- Every ad is labeled "Sponsored", "Featured Pick" or "Exclusive Partner".
- Ads never change a Food Compass score or a recommendation. A sponsored alternative is always shown below the top-ranked healthier alternative, never above it.
- Who sees ads: people using Harmony for free on the web and in the Android app. Ad-free subscribers and school or hospital accounts never see ads.
- Privacy: targeting is matched on each person's device. Advertisers never receive anyone's name, contact details, location or health information. You receive counts of impressions and clicks.
Placements and formats
There are two creative formats, a full-width image banner and a sponsored card, plus a text-only card in chat. A sponsored card shows a small square image (your logo or product), your headline, your brand name and a button.
| Placement | Where it appears | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Home carousel | The home screen people see before signing in. Several advertisers rotate every 6 seconds. | Image banner, full width, 75 px tall |
| Exclusive partner banner | The home screen of signed-in members. One advertiser at a time. | Image banner, full width, 75 px tall, labeled "Exclusive Partner" |
| Sponsored alternative | In the list of healthier alternatives after a product scan, directly after the top-ranked alternative. People here are actively comparing products. | Sponsored card |
| Post-scan card | Below the result after a product is scanned, for visitors who are not signed in. Can be limited to product categories, for example "cereal" or "yogurt". | Image banner, full width, 70 px tall |
| Ingredient analysis card | Inside a scanned product's ingredient analysis, when someone opens it to see what is in the product. | Sponsored card |
| My Family card | On the My Family screen of signed-in members, where they manage their family's profiles. It is chosen after they scan a product. | Sponsored card |
| Featured pick | In the conversation with Grandma Harmony, right after she searches stores for a product the person asked for. | Headline, brand, optional image (70 px tall) and button, labeled "Featured Pick" |
| Chat card | In a conversation with Grandma Harmony, at most once every 7 replies. | Text card: headline, brand and button |
| No-results card | When a product search finds no matches. | Sponsored card |
| Google display ads | The two home banners, the post-scan position and the ingredient analysis, whenever no direct advertiser is booked there. | Responsive display ads served by Google AdSense |
The home carousel, sponsored alternative, post-scan card and featured pick can be booked through our partner team today; the other placements are available by arrangement.
Targeting
Harmony never sends anyone's information out to pick an ad. The app downloads the eligible offers and matches them on the person's own device, so you can reach the right families without ever receiving personal data.
Health conditions
Choose any of the 29 conditions families track in Harmony, from diabetes and heart disease to celiac disease and gout. A condition-targeted ad is shown only to signed-in members who:
- turned on Health-based offers in Settings (it is off unless they turn it on), and
- have that condition in one of their family profiles, and
- do not live or shop in a state where health matching is switched off. At launch that is Washington, Nevada and Connecticut.
Condition-targeted ads never fire a tracking pixel. They run on placements signed-in members see, not on the home carousel or post-scan card.
States and ZIP areas
Choose US states and/or ZIP areas (the first three digits of a ZIP code, for example 981, which includes downtown Seattle's 98101). Matched to the ZIP code the person set for store search. Available on every placement.
Product categories
Limit the post-scan card to products in categories you choose, such as "cereal" or "yogurt".
Without targeting, an ad can reach everyone who sees that placement. When several ads compete for a placement, the one that matches the person best is shown first.
Creative specifications
Text
- Headline: 4 to 60 characters
- Button text: 2 to 30 characters, for example "Shop Now" or "Learn More"
- Brand name, shown on every card
- Image description (alt text) for screen readers
Images
- Supplied as a secure (https) link
- Banners fill the screen width and are cropped to 70–75 px tall. We recommend a wide image of about 5:1, at least 1,000 px wide, with your logo and text kept near the center.
- Sponsored cards show a 40 × 40 px square. We recommend a square logo or product image of at least 120 × 120 px.
Links and tracking
- Destination link for clicks, opened in a new tab
- Optional tracking pixel (https), called on each impression and click. Not used on condition-targeted ads.
Frequency and measurement
- Sponsored cards are limited to 3 per visit, and no more than 2 from the same brand, so no one is flooded with ads.
- An impression is counted once per visit for each ad; clicks are counted every time.
- We report impressions and clicks for each week of your campaign, and your own pixel can count them too.
